Construction

Essential industry for BC.

During the Pandemic, the province of BC deemed construction as “essential,” recognizing the importance of the products and services that we provide to all British Columbians. We are proud of our industry’s resilient, innovative and essential nature that has brought us through a challenging period.
The industry produces about 4M m3 annually, of which half is consumed in the lower mainland. With commercial, institutional and infrastructure projects on the rise, the demand for concrete is increasing too.

Job Creation

A growing economy for BC.

BC concrete, cement and aggregate industries employ over 23,000 direct and indirect workers, using BC raw materials (sand, gravel and water). The concrete industry is an essential participant in the BC Economy. Through direct, indirect and induced economic contribution of over $11 billion, the industry is a critical and essential participant in the BC economy, and a major value chain for small and medium-sized businesses.

Concrete

The ideal building material.

Concrete is one of the most widely used building materials in the world. It’s strength and versatility make it ideal for safe, sustainable, cost-effective buildings and infrastructure. Every town in BC that has a population of 5,000 or more, has a local ready-mix concrete plant that serves the community. There are employment opportunities throughout the province for people looking to work in an entrenched, community industrial pillar.
