SUMMARY

The concrete division of the Klaassen Group of Companies (Agassiz Ready Mix and Hope Ready Mix) is seeking a qualified Ready-Mix Batcher / Dispatcher for the Agassiz and Hope area. This is a skilled
position requiring a thorough understanding of the ready-mix concrete business. As a Batcher, you’ll be responsible for producing concrete according to predetermined specifications using computer batching
software. Key tasks include ensuring the correct dosages and admixtures and verifying that the batched concrete meets both company and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong
working knowledge of Command Alkon and/or Jonel products, excellent communication skills and a solid foundation in concrete quality control and value-added offerings. Coordinates and completes
all duties while promoting and fostering the company’s culture, core values, and vision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These tasks are strictly an outline of essential duties and responsibilities; any other duties may also be assigned when required.

• Produce concrete products to required specifications.
• Ensure accurate batching of concrete that produces a quality product.
• Verify each load for volume, mix, added products and all other quality information.
• Work with customers, salespeople and operations to optimize delivery and plant utilization.
• Schedule and organize the delivery of ready-mix concrete to jobs sites.
• Order, receive and inspect raw materials to ensure production requirements are met.
• Monitor inventories in the plant (cement, flash, admixtures).
• Have a thorough working knowledge of computer/batching system.
• Define problems, collect data and communicate with management.
• Responsible for pricing and handling walk-in and phone enquiries.
• Perform opening, startup and shutdown of batch plant.
• Interacting regularly with dispatchers, haulers, drivers, customers, operations, production and quality control personnel.
• Perform daily inspection of plant facility.
• Perform routine, preventative, diagnostic and repair maintenance on all plant equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Promotes company safety and environmental policies.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Minimum 3 years of dispatching experience in the concrete industry.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication with a proven customer service track record.
  
• Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and problem-solving abilities.
  
• Strong math skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  
• Team player with a positive attitude and a safety-conscious mindset.
• Familiar with quality control equipment and tools, as well as WCB/Employment Standards/Ministry of Transport regulations.
  
• Proficient in basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) with the ability to learn custom software.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES / QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 Secondary Education
• Valid driver’s license

• Able to work in an industrial environment that may include dust, heat, loud noise, etc.
• Work overtime as required

• Three (3) month probationary period.
